The European Commission (EC) estimated total Kiev demands for external financing at 135.7 bln euro in 2026-2027 on condition that the conflict would end in 2026, the Politico newspaper said.
Such information is contained in the EC letter to EU member-countries with the recommendation to expropriate Russian assets, posted by the news outlet.
"According to preliminary projections of the IMF that assume an end of the war by end-2026 and taking into account projections of the Ukrainian authorities regarding military support, the total estimated remaining needs for the period 2026-2027 amount to EUR 135.7 billion," the document indicates.
"Financing pressures are expected to be particularly acute in 2026 and 2027, when Ukraine’s combined uncovered needs could reach over EUR 70 billion and EUR 64 billion respectively. This reflects the ongoing intensity of the war, the declining military in-kind support, the need to sustain core state functions, and the continuous build-up of critical defense and industrial capacity," the document states further.

Ukraine hopes to receive 100 French-made Rafale fighter jets under the military assistance agreement with Paris by 2035, Vladimir Zelensky said after talks with French President Emmanuel Macron.
ReplyDeleteThe agreement was signed by Macron and Zelensky at the Velizy-Villacoublay air base near Paris earlier in the day. Details of the deal have not been disclosed.
"This is a document that gives our country an opportunity to acquire military equipment manufactured by the French defense industry, including 100 Rafale F4 jets for Ukraine’s combat aviation by 2025, SAMP-T air defense systems, radars to air defense systems, air-to-air missiles and aircraft bombs," Zelensky wrote on his Telegram channel, adding that Ukraine and France also plan to launch joint drone production projects starting this year.
Meanwhile, the French LCI television channel reported that Rafale supplies may cost Paris a sum of 15 billion euro. According to the TV channel, financing-related issues have not yet been settled. Moreover, it anticipated that it would not be an easy task for the authorities to persuade lawmakers to agree to allocate that much money amid the budgetary deficit.
