Yahya al-Mabhuh, commander of Hamas' elite Nukhba force, has been killed in an Israeli strike on central Gaza Strip, the Al Arabiya television channel reported, citing sources.
According to the sources, the Israeli strike targeted a cafe in the city of al-Zawaida when al-Mabhuh was inside. Hamas has not yet confirmed his death.
Apart from that, according to the television channel, at least ten people died after Israeli strikes on various parts of the enclave.
Hamas has placed responsibility for the escalation in the Gaza Strip and a potential breakdown of the ceasefire on Israel.
"Hamas reiterates that it has adhered completely and faithfully to all articles, annexes, and mechanisms of the agreement out of its concern to achieve stability and relieve the suffering of our people in the Gaza Strip, while the occupation regime (Israel) continues its threats and daily repeated breaches — a flagrant violation of the signed accord," it said in a statement posted on its Telegram channel.
