Iran’s FM says phonecall from Washington could ‘pave the way to diplomacy’

Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has called Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu “a war criminal” and said Israel’s PM is deliberately provoking war to block a diplomatic breakthrough between Iran and the US.

In a Telegram post, Araghchi said that Israel’s leadership is “hiding in Tel Aviv bunkers” and vowed that Iran’s armed forces will continue to retaliate “for as long as necessary to ensure that they no longer target our people”.

Araghchi said that if US President Donald Trump “truly believes in diplomacy” and wants to stop the war, then “a phone call from Washington is all it takes to silence Netanyahu”.

“That could pave the way for a return to diplomacy,” he said, adding that Iran didn’t start the war and does not seek further bloodshed, but will fight “with honor, to the last drop of blood” to defend its land and people.

  2. Iran held back using all its missile capabilities in its latest strikes on Israel, Ahmad Vahidi, adviser to the commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), the country's elite military unit, said.

"We have not yet brought our strategic missile potential fully into play. When the time comes, we will deploy our most advanced systems — and next-generation missiles are only one part of that arsenal," he told the Tasnim agency, refuting allegations that Iran is running out of missiles.

According to Vahidi, Iran is not afraid to continue the conflict, nor will it hesitate to show the world its military might.

    3. Israeli army claims Iran’s armed forces used state broadcaster

A military statement says it bombed Iran’s state broadcaster building in Tehran a short while ago.

“This centre was used by the armed forces to promote military operations under civilian cover, while using its own means and assets,” it claimed.

    6. Just like Ukraine, Israel was granted total immunity from being prosecuted over attacks on journalists, Christelle Neant, the editor-in-chief of the International Reporters agency and a war reporter working in Donbass, told TASS.

Commenting on the Israeli strike that targeted the headquarters of Iran’s state-run broadcaster IRIB, Neant said: "Regretfully, the IDF strike on IRIB headquarters is not the first Israeli attack on journalists. We need to keep in mind that the Israeli army has already killed over 200 journalists in Palestine. And no serious statements in connection with these violations of the Geneva Convention followed from Western countries, who support Israel."

"We see that both Israel and Ukraine have been granted by the West full immunity in connection with these war crimes," the journalist added.

She emphasized that "Israel, just like the Ukrainian army and the government, is very much afraid of the truth, afraid of journalists, because they publish the truth about the IDF’s war crimes."

"It’s a crying shame! I repeat that journalists are protected by the Geneva Convention, and it is absolutely unacceptable to bomb a place where journalists are working, if the military knows about it," Neant added.
