Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass said a curfew will be imposed in the city’s downtown area amid the ongoing protests and unrest.
"I have declared a local emergency and issued a curfew for downtown Los Angeles to stop the vandalism, to stop the looting," she said during a press conference aired by Fox News. "If you do not live or work in downtown LA, avoid the area. Law enforcement will arrest individuals who break the curfew, and you will be prosecuted."
The restrictions will be imposed at 8:00 p.m. local time (3:00 a.m. GMT) and will remain in force until 6:00 a.m. local time (1:00 p.m. GMT).
Mayor Karen Bass announced a curfew will be in effect Tuesday night for one square mile of downtown Los Angeles following four nights of sporadically chaotic protests during which the LAPD arrested more than 150 people.
ReplyDeleteThe curfew will extend from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. It will apply to the area of downtown from the 5 Freeway to the 110 Freeway and from the 10 Freeway to where the 110 Freeway and the 5 Freeway merge, Bass said.
A limited curfew will go into effect Tuesday night for part of downtown Los Angeles.
ReplyDeleteThe curfew will be in effect from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. and may continue for several days. It includes about 1 square mile of downtown Los Angeles from the 5 Freeway to the 110 Freeway and the 10 Freeway to the point where it merges with the 110 and 5 freeways.
