Pakistan Conducts Successful Training Launch of Short-Range Ballistic Missile

Pakistan on Saturday conducted a successful training launch of its surface-to-surface "Abdali Weapon System," the military said in a statement.

The launch, held as part of the ongoing military exercise "Ex INDUS," aimed to ensure the operational readiness of Pakistan's strategic forces and validate key technical parameters, including the missile's advanced navigation system and enhanced maneuverability, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the military's media wing, said in the statement, Xinhua reported.

The Abdali missile, with a range of 450 km, is a short-range ballistic missile designed for precision strikes and contributes to Pakistan's deterrence capability, the ISPR said.

Following the successful test, the president and prime minister of Pakistan, along with senior officers of the armed forces, extended their congratulations to the participating personnel, the statement added.

  1. India has said it had banned the import of goods coming from or transiting via Pakistan and barred Pakistani ships, as tensions rise between the nuclear-armed neighbours in the wake of a deadly attack on tourists in the disputed Kashmir region.

India's Directorate General of Foreign Trade said in a notification that the ban would take effect immediately.

"This restriction is imposed in the interest of national security and public policy," it said.
