Kiev-West security agreements show that confrontation with Russia will last — Russian MFA

Agreements on security guarantees between the Western countries and Ukraine confirm that their aim is a long-term confrontation with Russia, Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova told a news briefing.

"Although the so-called security guarantee agreements are of a token nature and lack anything new, in combination with the military support already provided for Kiev, the beefing of up the Vladimir Zelensky regime’s military muscle, and supplies of arms and military equipment, the signing is another step forward in the West's hybrid war against Russia and a confirmation that the real aim is a long-term confrontation with our country. No willingness is in sight to follow the path of a political and diplomatic settlement of the Ukrainian crisis," Zakharova said.

She stressed that it was not the choice of West Europeans, though.

"This choice for the taxpayers, for the citizens and for the public of the EU countries was made in Washington, which planted in these countries and in the relevant bloc structures certain officials who swore allegiance to the White House, and not to the people who had thought they were electing authorities through democratic institutions in their own countries," Zakharova added.
