Yemen’s Houthis say they targeted two Israeli ships in Red Sea Bab, el-Mandeb Strait

Yemen’s Houthi movement targeted two Israeli ships on Sunday with an armed drone and a naval missile, a spokesperson for the group’s military said.

The spokesperson said the two ships, Unity Explorer and Number Nine, were targeted after they rejected warnings from the group's navy.

"This morning, the Yemeni Naval Forces conducted an operation against two Israeli ships - the Unity Explore and Number 9 - in the Bab el-Mandeb Strait. The former ship was attacked with the use of an anti-ship missile, the latter one - by a drone," he said in a statement posted on his Telegram channel.

The Houthi claim that they attacked the ships after they had dismissed the rebels’ warning. The Houthi warned that they would continue attacks on Israeli ships in the Red and Arabian Seas until Israel ends its operation in the Gaza Strip.

  1. The two ships that were attacked by the Yemeni Houthi in the Red Sea are not linked with Israel, Israel Defense Forces (IDF) Spokesman Daniel Hagari said.

"Today, missiles were fired toward two commercial ships, which have nothing to do with Israel. One ship was seriously damaged. It is in critical condition, running the risk of sinking," he said.
