Israel army confirms death of female soldier held in Gaza

The Israeli army on Tuesday confirmed the death of Noa Marciano, a woman soldier held captive in Gaza by Palestinian militant group Hamas.
A statement from the army called Marciano “a fallen IDF soldier abducted by a terror organisation,” a day after the army confirmed her identity following the release by Hamas of a video showing the young woman in captivity.

The Palestinian faction said she was killed in an Israeli strike and issued still pictures of a young woman of similar appearance lying, looking sallow and with her eyes closed, on a blood-stained bedsheet. A close-up image shows a bloody head wound.
