Stoltenberg: NATO needs huge stockpiles of weapons to “ensure peace and freedom”

NATO countries need to increase weapons production in order to adapt to changing world conditions. This was stated on October 25 by Alliance Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg during a speech at the NATO Defense Industry Forum in Sweden, which was broadcast on YouTube.
“We face an increasingly unstable world, so we must adapt for the long term,” he said.

 Stoltenberg added that the main goal of increasing arms production is to strengthen the alliance's deterrence and defense capabilities. At the same time, he noted that NATO countries do not have “sufficient reserve capacity” to replenish the supplies supplied to Ukraine.

 According to the NATO Secretary General, this means that NATO member countries must “change the regulation of the military industry” to create compensation for the costs of private military companies from states. Addressing weapons manufacturers, Stoltenberg said that he did not have an answer to the question of how to do all this, but expressed hope that in the discussions on the forum panels they would find a solution.
