Turkish "Warnings" after Russian fire on cargo ship, urged Russian partners to avoid escalation in the Black Sea

Turkish authorities have warned Russia to avoid further escalation in the Black Sea following the incident with the Sukra Okan cargo ship, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan's office said.
On Sunday, August 13, the crew of the Russian patrol ship "Vasily Bykov" opened warning fire to inspect the cargo ship "Sukra Okan" under the flag of Palau, moving to the Ukrainian port of Izmail in the Black Sea.

"Following the (Russian) intervention, our partners in the Russian Federation were appropriately warned to avoid such attempts, which lead to an escalation of tension in the Black Sea," the statement said.

The Russian Defense Ministry on Tuesday published footage of the work of the Russian inspection team of a patrol ship on a dry cargo ship. The video shows a flight by a Russian Ka-29 helicopter of the Sukra Okan dry cargo ship that did not comply with the requirements to stop, the moments of landing a group of Russian servicemen on the ship, checking documentation and carrying out inspection activities in the ship's premises to check for prohibited goods.
