A Canadair aircraft designed for aerial firefighting crashed while extinguishing fire on Greek island of Euboea on Tuesday, Greek broadcaster ERT reported.
According to ERT, the aircraft crashed near the Karystos coastal town.
A CL-215 type aircraft with a crew of two Airmen of the 355th Tactical Transport Squadron of the 112th Fighter Wing, went down during an aerial firefighting operation in Platanistos, Evia today, Tuesday, July 25 at 14:52.
As announced by the Air Force General Staff, a search and rescue operation is underway for the two Airmen.
A Super Puma helicopter and an Air Force AB-205 helicopter as well as a Navy S-70 helicopter have been rushed to the area.
