Blinken’s claims truce in Ukraine impermissible now is 'shallow analysis' — Lavrov

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has described as "shallow analysis" US Secretary of State Antony Blinken’s objections to the idea of an immediate ceasefire in Ukraine.

"Mr. Blinken said yesterday or the day before that a ceasefire [in Ukraine] now would be in the interests of Russia and that it cannot be allowed. What is this shallow, to put it bluntly, piece of analysis based on? It's hard for me to say. My only guess is the West does not want to stop this war. In this war it is pursuing its own geopolitical interests, primarily in terms of attempts to eliminate Russia as a competitor on the world scene," Lavrov said at a news conference following talks with Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian in Moscow on Wednesday.
