The troops will be deployed in the Kherson region on the Crimean border and would monitor transportation of goods and people between Ukraine and the peninsula, he said speaking at a congress.
The troop will be formed of Crimean Tatars, Kazan Tatars, Uzbeks, Chechens, Azeris, Meskhetian Turks and other Muslim groups, Kırımoğlu noted.
- Kırımoğlu met with President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan met after attending the 2nd World Crimean Congress, which convened in Ankara July 31-Aug. 2 with the participation of 180 civil society organizations from 12 countries, along with politicians.
An autonomous Crimean Tatar Republic will be formed, Kırımoğlu said, calling on the Crimean people to take an active role in Ukrainian politics. He expressed expectation from the diaspora on this bid.
Ukraine has halted train services to Crimea after Russia’s annexation of the peninsula, instead directing services to Novooleksiyvka and Kherson. Turkish Airlines also added an additional flight to Kherson after the annexation.

ReplyDeleteLe deuxième congrès mondial des Tatars de Crimée s'est déroulé ce week-end à Ankara à l'initiative de Moustafa Djemilev et Refat Tchoubarov, députés ukrainiens et anciens leadeurs du Majlis du peuple tatar de Crimée. Les Tatars de Crimée ont appelé le président turc à ne pas soutenir le congrès.
Les initiateurs du congrès mondial des Tatars de Crimée Moustafa Djemilev et Refat Tchoubarovsont, actuellement en Ukraine, sont interdits d'entrée en Crimée pour cinq ans pour incitation à la haine interethnique.
Les participants à la conférence nationale des Tatars de Crimée qui s'est déroulée les mêmes jours à Simferopol (capitale de la péninsule) ont qualifié le congrès d'Ankara "d'illégitime" et ont appelé le président turc Recep Tayyip Erdogan à le boycotter. ReplyDeleteUkrainian president's envoy for the Crimean Tatars people, Mustafa Dzhemilev, announced the creation of a "Muslim battalion." One should not minimize the threat of unleashing ethnic and religious wars in the former Soviet Union: Turkey is standing behind Dzhemilev's actions.
The so-called "World Congress of the Crimean Tatars" took place in Turkey's Ankara on August 1-2. The organizers of the event were former leaders of the Majlis, Mustafa Dzhemilev and Refat Chubarov. Today, they are personas non grata in Russia for "inciting ethnic hatred." The "Congress" brought together about 200 groups of Crimean Tatars from different countries, Radio Svoboda says. The participants of the event said they were forced to hold their meeting outside the Crimea because of the pressure from Russian special services. All was happening against the background of support from Turkey that said that it would never support the "annexation of the Crimea.'"
"Unfortunately, throughout history, the right of the Crimean Tatar people to live in dignity in their own homeland was undermined with collective deportations and repression.
