Deputy PM and FM Venizelos’ statement regarding the seizure of the Turkish Consulate General in Mosul and the recent wave of violence in Iraq

Hellenic MFA, Wednesday, 11 June 2014

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Evangelos Venizelos made the following statement regarding the seizing of the Turkish Consulate General in Mosul and the recent wave of violence in Iraq:

“The current wave of violence and destabilization in the friendly country of Iraq is cause for great concern.

We condemn in the most equivocal manner the seizing of the Turkish Consulate General in Mosul, and we hope for the speedy release of the hostages and the immediate termination of all violent activities aimed at undermining the security, stability and prosperity of the Iraqi people.”
