China urges Japan to reflect on its past

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Hong Lei says people all over Europe and the world are commemorating the 70th anniversary of the D-Day landings.

He said China hopes Japanese leaders will deeply reflect on their country’s militaristic past and earn the trust of its Asian neighbors and the international community by correcting its wrongdoings.

"Europe has turned the page of history on World War II, and Germany has won respect from the world with its sincere remorse.

However, the aggressor in Asia -- Japan -- is still trying to overturn and challenge history’s judgement of World War II and the post-war order, bringing international condemnation," Spokesman of Chinese Foreign Ministry Hong Lei said.
