Ship with 190 people runs aground off Greek island, no injuries

A ferry ship with 190 passengers on board ran aground off Santorini island in the Aegean Sea early Saturday, the Greek Coast Guard said.

There were no injuries or water on the Greek ship "Prevelis," which eventually reached the port.

The accident might have been caused by a loss of power, according to preliminary reports. Divers checked the extent of damage before it sailed to the port.

Passengers were handed out life-jackets as precautionary measures, while Coast Guard speedboats and another passenger vessel were nearby, Coast Guard officials said.

The ferry was en route to Rhodes from Piraeus.
